The executive governor of Ogun State, Dr Dapo Abiodun, has reportedly prohibited tankers in the state from making use of the overhead bridges. From what we learnt, this new rule came after a horrific fire incident in the state last Tuesday, where a tanker fell and exploded along Kuto-Okemosan road.

As a result, the governor was spotted where he paid an official visit to the scene where the accident happened. He also visited the victims of the fire in the hospital.
The unfortunate fire incident was said to have caused a lot of damages to people and properties
After what he saw at the scene of the accident and hospital, Governor Dapo Abiodun took to Instagram to reveal what the state plans to do to avoid the recurrence of such tragedy. He stated that the drivers of these tankers will be banned from using the overhead bridges all over the state. He also revealed that the State Ministry of Transportation will put in place stringent penalties for erring drivers.

After the assessment of the fire incident, the governor stated that the fire was as a result of brake failure and resultant collisions, which could have gone out of hand if not for the quick response of the emergency team.
The governor also paid a visit to the victims of the fire incident lying in the hospital beds
According to the governor, the state has employed the service of burn specialists from Lagos to help in treating the victims that suffered severe burns from the accident. He further said that all the victims he met at the State Hospital in Ijaye and Federal Medical Center in Idi-Aba will be taken off by the Ogun State government. He expressed his sadness and sent his best wishes to the families of those 6 casualties of the recent fire incident.
