Sometimes the danger of using public transport is not being assured of full security. Such was the case as Ogun police recently arrested a tricycle rider for raping a passenger in a school area. The 22yrs-old suspect allegedly robbed the unsuspecting female passenger before proceeding to even rape her at gunpoint.

Oyeyemi Abimbola, the spokesperson of Ogun State police has confirmed this incident and the arrest of the tricycle (Keke) rider. He revealed that the Ifo police division got a distress call which led to the mobilizing of a patrol team that arrested the rider. While interrogating the female passenger that was raped, she claimed to have boarded the Keke at the Pakoto Bus stop. According to her, the tricycle rider was supposed to take her to Iyana Coker.

Unfortunately, the Keke rider suddenly turned towards a certain Olose Pry School midway into the trip. He brought out a locally-made pistol and dispossessed the passenger of her valuables and money. Subsequently, the tricycle rider alleged raped her also at gunpoint around the school area.

The police in Ogun State have confirmed that the Keke driver arrested recently was in possession of a locally-made gun. He was said to have put the passenger back into his Keke and was driving her to another location before being caught. The victim sighted people around the Aritameje area and raised an alarm which led to the distress call that the police received. As of the time of writing this report, the tricycle rider and the locally-made pistol found in his possession have been recovered by the police.
