The period of “grace” is finally over for vehicles plying Ogun State roads with fake number plates or inadequate vehicle papers. New reports claim that the Ogun FRSC division has begun impounding vehicles with unauthorized number plates today. The state FRSC officials are now working with the VIO, TRACE and police officers to clamp down on vehicles with unregistered number plates.

Just as you have already seen in the caption above, the FRSC in Ogun State is also hunting for motorcycles with unauthorized plate numbers as well. The sector commander of FRSC in Ogun State, CC Ahmed Umar said that the agency is aware of an increasing number of unregistered vehicles now operating within the state. He revealed that such acts threaten the security of the nation and that is the reason why such vehicles need to be tracked and seized.

According to the FRSC sector commander in Ogun State, other agencies like the VIO, Ogun TRACE, and the Nigeria police will be joining hands with the FRSC in impounding vehicles with “fake” number plates. This new exercise has taken effect, from today November 29 and it is expected to last for an undisclosed period of time. The State FRSC boss advises that motorcycle operators and car owners in Ogun should endeavour to follow due process when registering their vehicles. Similarly, he urged them to only renew their vehicle papers with the government-approved agencies rather than paying 3rd parties.
