Tragedy struck on Sunday 14th of August 2022 as a fatal auto crash in Ogun state claimed the lives of 3 RCCG worshippers and left 13 injured. The three members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God were killed in the ghastly lone accident along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu interchange. The crash occurred around Kobape Area in the Obafemi-Owode LGA of Ogun State. Thirteen people also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the unfortunate incident that occurred around 5:22 pm on that fateful day after the bus somersaulted and fell on its side.
3 RCCG members coming from the convention were killed in an accident involving a single vehicle
The victims were returning to their respective homes from the RCCG convention when they encountered the crash. According to reports, they were occupants of a Mazda bus with number plate APP 297 YC, which tumbled on the road due to a burst tyre. This tragic incident was confirmed by Babatunde Akinbiyi, who is the spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun State. From his statement. He said sixteen people, including 5 adult males and 11 adult females, were involved in the accident. Akinbiyi explained that two adult males and 1 adult female were killed in the crash. He also mentioned the account of an eyewitness, who was also among the passengers on the bus. He said the driver was violating the proper speed limit and was cautioned by some passengers before one of the tyres at the rear got busted. As a result, the bus veered off and somersaulted.
Babatunde Akinbiyi added that 13 people, comprising five adult males and 10 adult females, sustained injuries in the recent Ogun crash. The passengers were part of the people that attended the 70th RCCG convention tagged Perfect Jubilee that was just concluded at the Redeem Camp. The TRACE spokesman also sent his condolences to the families of the deceased. Akinbiyi urged drivers to refrain from over-speeding and also ensure their vehicles are road-worthy before embarking on a long trip.
