Eight persons were killed on Monday morning with several others sustaining severe injuries as an NNPC petrol-laden tanker lost control and crashed into other vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles around Felele on Abuja/Lokoja highway, Kogi State.
The crash resulted in the contents of the tanker spilling out and exploding, burning vehicles, tricycles and some persons beyond recognition.

Reports gathered by Naijauto said the tanker driver lost control due to brake failure.
An eyewitness said the fatal crash involved three cars, a bus, two motorcycles, and four tricycles, adding that most of the petrol stations around the scene of the crash were closed and that the fire service was there to control and prevent the fire from spreading out.

The FRSC officials were also at the scene. They took the dead bodies away, while others who sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to Specialist Hospital and Federal Medical Center Lokoja.
