Did you have to wait for so long before getting your Nigerian passport? That was the case for many Nigerians. But all that is about to change as the federal government has announced that, henceforth, the Nigerian passport will be produced locally.
This positive development was made known to the public shortly after the federal government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Irish Smart Technology Limited and Nigerian Security Printing and Minting PLC in Abuja at the Ministry of Interior.
Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau was the one to sign the MoU
Present at the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding was the Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau who stated that they started working on this initiative two years ago.
Highlighting the advantages of having the passport produced here in Nigeria, the Minister said that it’ll keep the country’s data safe, generate employment opportunities and empower Nigerians as they get to learn how to produce the e-passport. He affirmed that the government is committed to giving Nigerians the best e-passport quality because they deserve it.
