In a recent update, Naijauto gathered that the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has just confirmed the death of 2 young female footballers, Aniebet Ekong and Saturday Glory on Tuesday 1st of October 2019.

It was reported that the two young ladies were going back to their base after a training session on Tuesday when a car knocked both of them down. Both of the deceased ladies were confirmed to be players of the same football club known as “Police Machine” by the club’s assistant captain, Linda Nnaocha.
Linda also stated that both ladies died right at the spot after being knocked down by the car and could not even be rushed to the hospital at all.

It is so disheartening to realize that both of these two talented young ladies were bidding to be promoted into the NWPL (Nigeria Women’s Premier League) just next season, of which the promotion playoff for Women Pro-League has been billed to actually commence on 4th of October 2019.

When reacting to this saddening development, the NWFL chairperson – Aisha Falode sympathized with the officials and management of the “Police Machine” football club. In an official statement, Falode said;
“It is with great sadness that we receive the news of the death of two young players of Pro-League side Police Machine FC,”
