One of the most shocking news you will read on the internet this week is the incident of the Niger tanker explosion caused by a local tea seller. Naturally, the news will get one to ask about the possibility of a tea seller causing such a terrifying disaster. Well, press reports claim that an articulated vehicle conveying fuel exploded in Badeggi village, along Bida-Lapai road in Bida LGA of Niger State. It was revealed that a local tea seller who at the time was trying to heat water to make tea for his customers inadvertently caused the explosion.

From the reports issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps, this disturbing incident occurred on Saturday 17th of September 2022 at about 7:30 am.
Kumar Tsukwam, who is the sector commander of the traffic agency in the state, revealed that the petrol-laden truck was leaking fuel while in motion on its way to Abuja. As a result, the driver parked the vehicle in order to fix the leakage. It was during that moment the truck caught fire from a nearby tea shop, setting fire to two other trucks around as well. Fortunately, no life was lost in the explosion. Tsukwam said the FRSC personnel, fire service officials and other security agencies were on the ground to mitigate the disaster. He however urged truck drivers to pay more attention to their vehicles while on the road to prevent similar disasters from reoccuring.
Two other articulated vehicles were also burnt beyond recognition in the recent Niger tanker explosion
Malam Ahmed Ibrahim Inga, who happens to be the DG of Niger State Emergency Management Agency, also confirmed this incident. He stated that the tea seller sustained injuries and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Bida for medical attention. Inga who also corroborated the earlier reason for the explosion added that no residential buildings or commercial outlets were burnt in the explosion.
