List of new railway stations Buhari named after popular Nigerians

President Buhari approves the naming of new railway stations along the Lagos-Ibadan and Itakpe/Ajaokuta/Aladja/Warri corridors after well-deserving citizens.

New reports have it recorded that President Buhari has recently approved naming some of the new railway stations positioned along the Warri-Aladja/Ajaokuta-Itakpe and Lagos-Ibadan corridors to be named after well-deserving Nigerians. This report was confirmed by the transport minister, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi in his recent press statement through Eric Ojiekwe – the director of press for Nigeria’s transport ministry.

Hon. Amaechi’s press statement noted that all of the well-deserving citizens whose name will be featured, have in many huge ways contributed to the development and progress of their individual communities and Nigeria at large.

1. List of new railway stations in Nigeria that are named after influential citizens

Based on the transport minister’s press statement, we have listed below each of the new railway stations and the reputable Nigerians whose name will be used for “branding each one respectively;

1.1. Lagos-Ibadan stations

  • Apapa station - Bola Ahmed Tinubu
  • Ebute Metta station - Mobolaji Johnson
  • Agege station - Babatunde Raji Fashola
  • Agbado station - Lateef Jakande
  • Kajola station - Prof. Yemi Osinbajo
  • Papalanto station - Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti
  • Abeokuta station - Prof. Wole Soyinka
  • Olodo station - Aremo Segun Osoba
  • Omio-Adio station - Chief Ladoke Akintola
  • Ibadan station - Chief Obafemi Awolowo
  • Operation Control centre - Chief Alex Ekwueme
