The governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reportedly assured Lagos motorists that the much-anticipated Agege Pen-Cinema bridge will be opened to vehicular movement by February 2021. Reports have it that the governor said the bridge project is currently at a 90% completion level and all the required civil works on the project have been completed already. According to press reports, the bridge project is expected to comprise of an overpass that rises from the road at Oba Ogunji and drops at the Oke Koto section of Agege in Lagos State. Similarly, the Agege Pen-Cinema bridge is also expected to link directly to the “old” Lagos-Abeokuta” highway and pass through Abule Egba in Lagos.

Going by current speculations, the successful opening of the Agege Pen-Cinema bridge is expected to ease all the common transport-related stress usually experienced by Lagos motorists who ply the Agege-Abule Egba axis. The excitement of residents in the area can already be felt after a huge number of them reportedly joined Governor Sanwo-Olu during his recent inspection of the 1.7km bridge on Wednesday 9th of December 2020. Media reports from this recent inspection claim that the governor said the bridge project is near completion and only requires few “touches” to be ready for use.
