An Okada (commercial motorbike) rider and two passengers on his motorcycle met their untimely death as they were crushed by a truck on Saturday, July 6, 2019 along Idiko road in Ogun State.

The fatal accident happened as the Okada rider tried to overtake the Iveco truck with plate number EKY 644 WH, via a narrow space on the road. Unfortunately, the move was not successful as the three people on the motorcycle got crushed in the process.

Be careful while driving beside trucks to avoid accident

Confirming the incident, Babatunde Akinbiyi, PRO, Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), stated that the accident was a result of indiscriminate overtaking by the motorcycle rider. He said that both the motorcycle and truck were from Idiroko and were headed for Sango-Ota. The motorcycle rider who was carrying two passengers had attempted to overtake the truck through a narrow path on the left but failed. The truck crushed all three of them and they died instantly.

“The truck and motorcycle, as well as the driver of the truck and motor boy have been taken to Onipanu Police Station, Ota. Two of the presumed dead have been collected by their relatives while the remains of one other have been deposited at the morgue of the State General Hospital, Ota.”
