Fresh reports have it that Tesla Motors has recently announced a ₦1.2million ($3,000) cut from the starting price of its latest Model Y SUV due to economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This new price reduction is actually coming after the company has similarly slashed the price of its Model S, Model X, and Model 3 just 2 months ago because of the pandemic as well.

The global automotive market is no doubt among the top industries that are currently struggling to survive amidst the COVID-19 pandemic that has taken the whole world by surprise. Tesla Motors, despite being a big player in the electric car market that has been making huge progress amidst the pandemic but still suffers some of the economic disruptions nonetheless.
According to recent reports, Tesla Motors has now announced that its Model Y SUV will be offered at a starting price of ₦19.4million ($49,990) which is about 6% lesser than the initial price of ₦20.6million ($52,990) stated on the company’s website.
The reports claim that Tesla didn’t immediately respond to several requests for comments on its reasons for the sudden price cut. However, Tesla’s recent official press release has now confirmed that the various economic disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic led to the decision.
