One hundred and seventy mechanics were recently trained in maintenance and repair in Kebbi State. Nigeria. This exercise was carried out by the National Automatic Design and Development Council (NADDC) in collaboration with Simba Group, a privately owned automobile company that deals in motorcycles and tricycles. In a statement made by the Director General, Mr. Jelani Aliyu at the closing ceremony of the Kebbi North Western skill acquisition program stated that the program is an empowerment program which focuses on the indigenes of Kebbi state to be equipped with automobile repair and maintenance skills.
This he said was able to successfully train 170 people. In a further statement by him, he claimed that such similar empowerment program had effectively empowered over twenty thousand youths all over the country. The role of NADDC according to the DG is to create an enabling environment for foreign automobile companies to invest into Nigerian auto business. This has been realistic in its role in bringing companies like Kia, Honda, Nissan and Peugeot into Kaduna. He rounded off his speech by appreciating the effort of the executive governor of Kebbi state, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu for supporting the dreams of youths in the state.

The Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar who was represented by Bello Dogondaji, urged those trained mechanics to put their skills into good use by promoting themselves and the society at large.
Certificates of participation and tools were given to the 170 trained youth, which were presented by the Governor of Kebbi State, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu and NADDC Director General, Mr. Jelani Aliyu.
