McLaren Automotive is celebrating a milestone achieved this week, with the production of their 20,000th car at the company's production plant in Working, UK.
The celebratory car is a McLaren 600LT Spider built as a right-hand drive and painted in Chicane Grey. The vehicle is meant for countries that drive on the right.
As reported here on Naijauto, the first model from the McLaren product line up, an MP4-12C, was produced eight years ago, July 2011. The firm has only 4800 units recorded as the produced vehicles in 2018.
And if you are wondering why their annual unit is that figure when other automakers are creating more than that in a single month, then you should know this.
McLaren uses hands to assemble its cars. So, each luxury supercar from their brand is hand-built. The firm focuses on quality rather than quantity and gives attention to detail for each car.
McLaren 600LT Spider is the 20,000th vehicle
McLaren is expecting the number of produced vehicles to stay at 5000 each year, in the decade to come. The company is also looking to increase the volume to 6000 units in 2025, being the end of their Track25 business plan.
Achieving our 20,000th car built is an important milestone for McLaren Automotive. Last year we hand-assembled just over 4,800 cars and we plan to maintain around 5,000 cars a year for the immediate future," said Mike Flewitt, CEO for McLaren Automotive.
While demand for our products continues to grow, we aim to balance that to maintain exclusivity for our brand and our customers."
It is fitting that we celebrate this achievement with a 600LT Spider which has been a huge success for us with all production slots for the coupe variant now sold out

To meet the global rise in the demand for the brand, McLaren introduced a second production shift. With this, the Working plant doubled its production from producing 10 cars in a day to making more than 20.
Presently, more than 90% of its vehicles hand built at the production plant are being exported to over 32 auto markets globally.
