At a press briefing held on Thursday, May 23, 2019, Zubairu Mu’azu, Commissioner of Police in the state disclosed that the modus operandi of the suspect Segun was to seek employment in management positions of big organizations so as to steal their cars and sell them off to people. Speaking further, Mu’azu said that the police had received a complaint about the suspect in December 2018, stating that he always applied for managerial positions in top companies with the intent of stealing their cars and selling them to unsuspecting buyers. Investigations on him showed that he had been successful in his antics, selling over 10 cars.

“After a thorough investigation by SARS operatives, the suspect was traced to a particular company where he was recently employed as a general manager. During interrogation, he confessed to have stolen several cars from his previous employers,” Mu’azu explained.

The Commissioner of Police also paraded 17 alleged cult leaders arrested by the command’s anti-cultism unit. The suspects who have been charged to court were said to be harassing and intimidating residents in the community.
