It is now official that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has unveiled the very first locally-assembled electric vehicle in Nigeria. This new electric vehicle is identified as the Hyundai Kona electric crossover SUV model and is said to have been assembled at Stallion Group’s automobile factory in Lagos.

During the unveiling of this electric vehicle, Governor Sanwo-Olu assured that the government of Lagos state will soon provide enough EV charging points across the state. He also mentioned that his administration will continue to seek partnership with all stakeholders that are clearly ready to introduce life-changing innovations to Lagos state. The governor further iterated his desire to see Lagos state becoming better in every aspect that will make it more desirable for investors.

Speaking about this newly unveiled Hyundai Kona EV, Rohtagi Manish, the M.D of Stallion Group in Lagos State, said that the car is an innovation that projects into a future “greener” Lagos. He claims that the unveiled vehicle is the very first 100% electric car in Nigeria that is completely assembled here in the country from bottom to the top. He says that the Hyundai Kona is an eco-friendly car that produces zero emission and works perfectly well just like the regular petrol-or-diesel-powered cars.

It should also be noted that during the unveiling of this new electric car, Governor Sanwo-Olu reassured Lagos residents that his administration will soon complete the Lagos-Badagry expressway among other key road projects.
