Despite the current harsh economy of Nigeria, it is quite saddening that LASTMA in Lagos says it has impounded a total of 3,850 vehicles in the last 3 months alone. Yes, it is really shocking that many Lagos drivers and car owners still violate a lot of traffic laws that make them land in trouble with LASTMA. If the traffic management agency could seize 3,850 cars within just 3 months alone, then only God knows how many more will still be impounded before this year runs out.
Believe it or not, LASTMA in Lagos recently revealed that it seized 3,850 vehicles between May and July 2021
Mr Bolaji Oreagba, the immediate Acting General manager of LASTMA recently revealed that the agency impounded 3,850 cars between the month of May and July this year alone. He disclosed that the vehicles were all seized for several traffic-related offences committed by drivers and car owners across Lagos State. According to Mr Oreagba, the 3,850 vehicles impounded belongs to both commercial operators and private vehicle owners. Is that not highly disappointing?
When speaking with newsmen earlier this week, Mr Oreagba urged the “motoring” public to abide by the traffic regulations and laws of Lagos state or else their vehicles will be impounded. He further confirmed that traffic violators across the state are putting themselves at risk of getting arrested by enforcement agents. Mr Oreagba stressed that non-compliance with traffic guidelines usually contribute to the incessant gridlock usually experienced by motorists all over Lagos state.
