The head office of LASTMA has finally responded after Nigerians on Twitter called its attention to a viral video showing some of its officers caught breaking the COVID-19 health guidelines while on duty.
The video seems to have been recorded by a motorist who was embarrassed by the actions of the erring officers who were supposed to be “laying” good examples for citizens.

Just as obvious from the viral video, the uploader also pointed out that none of the LASTMA officials was putting on a nose mask nor observing social distancing or any other form of COVID-19 safety guideline whatsoever.
And to make matters even worse, LASTMA is one of the state government’s agencies currently helping to enforce the COVID-19 guidelines on Lagos motorists. So, it is shocking to see officers of the agency completely flouting the guideline itself.
Below is the viral Twitter video that captured the erring officers in the act;

The incident reportedly occurred somewhere along the Ikorodu-Shagamu road in Lagos state. Ever since the video surfaced online, many Twitter users have been condemning the act by claiming that most law enforcement officers usually think that the law is not “meant” for them. Below is a collage of some comments by Nigerians on Twitter who reacted to the viral video:

Fortunately, the head office of the traffic agency has taken to its official Twitter page to confirm that it has seen the viral video also admitted that the incident indeed occurred. It has also declared that all of the erring officers will be subjected to appropriate discipline soon.
