The Urus was not Lamborghini's first try at an SUV, between 1986 and 1993 Lamborghini designed and sold an off-road SUV named 'LM002' but it didn't even last a day in the minds of SUV lovers because it was like a special purpose war vehicle.
Decades later, the Urus was by Lamborghini was introduced in 2018 and I can say it anywhere that the Lamborghini Urus is the best-looking luxury SUV I have ever seen. The Urus passes for a supercar in an SUV body both in looks and SUV.
It is clear that the LM002 idea was way different from the Urus
I saw the first Lamborghini Urus in Nigeria last year but before then, I had seen the Bentayga Bentley and Rolls-Royce Cullinan in Nigeria. Seeing those British luxury SUVs first made me assume that car lovers weren't feeling the car so it wasn't making sales. I am glad I got the shocker of my life this year, as I have seen over 6 Lamborghini Urus in Lagos, Nigeria alone. I even saw two parked right beside each other!
Can you just imagine this sight!
Just recently, Lamborghini celebrated the 10,000th Urus leaving its production facility. This happened in just 2 years while it took the Huracan 4 years to get to the 10,000 sales mark. This just tells us how successful the Urus has been.
I am glad the car is really doing well and making Lamborghini proud. Too many celebrities all over the world love the 'Lamborghini Truck' as it is often referred to as in Pop Culture. So why is the Lamborghini Urus getting popular in Nigeria?
Here is what makes the Lamborghini Urus desirable
This car doesn't use the regular naturally-aspirated Lamborghini V10 or V12 engine. It uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that makes the SUV feel more refined, producing 651 HP. The exterior also looks directly like an off-road supercar. Though this car is based on the Audi Q7, Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, and Volkswagen Touareg. It does not feel like it at all.
Tomato Red Urus that ladies would love
The interior of the car is also very luxurious with the dashboard looking like a fighter jet cockpit. Its comfortable seats 5 people and can go off-road and survive the bad road conditions in Nigeria. This car hasn't been gotten by any celebrity yet but in 2018, there was a rumour of Wizkid buying a Lamborghini Urus; however, we never saw it.
What a powerful Interior!
The Lamborghini Urus is basically a Lamborghini 5-seater supercar that can carry your family and go off-road and on any road in Nigeria. To have this car, you have to pay the price haha but guess what? It comes in only one trim.

Here is how much you will pay for a Lamborghini Urus
A brand new Urus costs not less than ₦85,000,000 brand new then you import to Nigeria with 35% of the buying price for duty than another 35% for tax which is a total ₦141,000,000 wow. Who else thinks 70% is too much percentage to pay on new cars? It was very discouraging when I heard a Nigerian dealer paid a ridiculous amount to clear his Urus with the Nigerian Customs.
For that Urus to land on Nigerian soil, you will pay so much
The foreign used Lamborghini Urus in Nigeria costs between ₦100,000 and ₦160,000 in Nigeria if it is not customized. The customization options for the Lamborghini Urus are very expensive and it can shoot this car to ₦200,000,000 while on sale. I doubt you would find any Nigerian used Lamborghini Urus in Nigeria for now.
Final notes on the Urus
Over 8 Lamborghini Urus SUVs in Nigeria and I only want more to come in because I am in love with the structure and idea of the car. The Urus would be the first Lamborghini to be very much present in the luxury and performance car market of Nigeria. No Nigerian car dealership keeps an Aventador or Huracan in the lot but you would find the Urus in some and with time, the numbers will multiply.
