Amid the frenzy caused by Lagos State government’s announcement to ban commercial activities of motorcycles and tricycles in some parts of the Center of Excellence, the Lagos State Task Force has started arresting riders of both vehicles ahead of the February 1, 2020, deadline.
Vehicles of riders arrested will be impounded
The clampdown by the Task Force officials in areas including Agege and Ikeja caused pandemonium as some riders protested that the deadline was still away. Some of them lamented over the seizure of their vehicles, saying that the vehicles did not belong to them, but their cries fell on deaf ears.

The decision of the Lagos State government to ban Okada and Keke in parts of the state has been met with heavy criticism by Nigerians including celebrities and public figures. Besides the transportation hardship the decision would cause commuters, many are worried that thousands of people, especially the youths, will be rendered jobless, and this could lead to an increase in crime rate.
