In the unrelenting efforts of Lagos state government to curb the spread of the novel Coronavirus in the state; it has now partnered with Julius Berger engineering company to disinfect bus stops and major roads.
Lagos government and Julius Berger Plc partners to disinfect public bus stops and roads in the state to curb COVID-19 spread
Mr Tunji Bello, the Commissioner for Environment & Water Resources in Lagos state made disclosure of this new partnership to the press recently during the flag-off exercise that took place over the last weekend at “Iddo” Bus stop in Lagos.
According to Mr Bello’s statement; this partnership between Julius Berger Plc and the LASG underscored the present administration’s unwavering determination to make Lagosians safe and secure. He mentioned that LASG will continue adopting different measures to fight against the spread of the Coronavirus disease in Lagos, especially transmission through community areas like bus stops.
Mr Bello also commended the engineering company, Julius Berger Plc for providing tankers and trucks to help dispense the chemicals used in the fumigating and disinfecting exercises.
Several other popular companies in Lagos state have also been supporting the government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Recently, Toyota Nigeria limited and Elizade Motors donated 3 ambulances to LASG among many others.
As for many people that are curious about the particular chemical combination which by the Government of Lagos state has been using for its disinfecting exercise; the answer is finally here!
Dr Hassan Sanuth, the Director of Sanitation services in Lagos state disclosed at the “Iddo” Bus stop fumigation flag-off exercise that a mixture of Chlorine and Hydrogen peroxide is the chemical combination that has been adopted. He also gave out a list of areas in Lagos state that will be covered in the current fumigation exercise. The list includes;
- Ojuelegba all through Ojota
- Maryland
- Jibowu
- Yaba
- Bode Thomas – Orile as well as its environs
- Iddo Market – Costain – Oyingbo – Iponrin
Talking of fumigation exercise, the Federal government still continues the disinfection of public places in Abuja.
