New traffic reports have confirmed that the Lagos RRS police recently arrested two motorcycle robbers and recovered a new bike from them. The two male suspects were reportedly apprehended at Park View Estate in Ikoyi, Lagos State. Press reports identified the two male suspects as 21-yr-old Jude Prince Ovat and 25-yr-old Ayo Taiwo. However, a certain Daniel Chibuike who is also a male suspect is said to be currently “at large”.

The Lagos RRS police disclosed that the suspected robbers were arrested after they stole a motorcycle from a rider on May 8 at around 2300 hrs. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State police spokesperson gave these details in a public statement released yesterday, May 10. According to SP Hundeyin, two of the suspects rode took a commercial motorcycle from the Obalande area to Ikoyi. Upon reaching their destination, a third suspect hit the bike rider with a wheel spanner on the head and stole his motorcycle. Residents of the area immediately raised an alarm that eventually got the attention of the RRS police squad in the area.

The Lagos State RRS police have revealed that the recently arrested motorcycle robbers have confessed to their crimes. They have also revealed that they stole many motorcycles using a similar violent format. The suspects disclosed that they usually sell the stolen motorcycles for ₦150,000 each. As of the time of writing this report, further investigation is said to be ongoing on the case of these suspected robbers. In fact, the Lagos state police commissioner has directed that the RRS transfers the case to the special squad of the commissioner. The police have also promised to go after all the other gang members that are currently on the run.
