There is a popular saying in Nigeria that every day is for the thief but one day is for the owner. Such was the case as Lagos police recently nabbed some notorious car thieves terrorizing the Iba, Igando and Egbeda axis of the state. The total number of suspects arrested is four and they are all young men between the ages of 26 and 33. These notorious robbers actually carried out a recent carjacking operation that was reported to the police and that led to their arrest.
These are the suspected carjackers recently arrested by men of the Lagos state police command
The Lagos state police have released an official press statement which reveals the identity of the suspected carjackers shown in the above photo. Their names, ages and gender were listed as follows:
- Lateef Babatunde (male) – 33yrs
- Augustine James (male) also known as “Edo Boy” – 29yrs
- Kingsley Ndubuisi (male) also known as “Kango” – 33yrs
- Victor Chibuike (male) also known as “Azaman” – 26yrs
According to the Lagos state police, the four suspects arrested recently at Igando axis committed a carjacking crime on August 7. The gang allegedly stole a 2006 Toyota Camry sedan, a 2010 Lexus RX350 SUV, a certain iPhone device and some other valuable items at gunpoint. As of the time of their arrest, police operatives recovered 12 live cartridges, 1 locally-made semi-automatic pistol and 3 locally-made pistols from them. Further investigations revealed that the gang were known for stealing cars and robbing Lagos residents living in the Iba, Igando and Egbeda axis of the state.
The Lagos state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin has told the press that more efforts are being put forward to recover other items that the gang has stolen in the past times. he also stated that at the end of police investigations, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
