According to media reports, the motorcycles you see in the above photos were crushed at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja. The crushed motorcycles were said to have been seized from many traffic offenders caught at different locations across the state.
CP Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State police commissioner revealed that the “crushing” exercise has actually been going on for some time now. He claimed that it was only this recent exercise done on November 20 that has been made public so far. The police boss stressed that the November 20 exercise was publicized to counter the rumours that police officers were selling the impounded bikes. CP Odumosu warned commercial motorcycle operators to desist from plying areas that the government has restricted by law. Similarly, he warned that car owners and commercial drivers should desist from violating Lagos traffic laws or risk their vehicles getting impounded.
