A new video has just been released by the Lagos govt as it sets to decongest traffic with the construction of Lekki road. The video clearly shows the progress of construction works on the Lekki regional road. The administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been constructing this road to help decongest traffic around the Lekki axis. The Lekki regional road is 8.75km in length and will serve as a second route to the Epe-Eti Osa expressway.

According to the Lagos state government, the Lekki road project will include the following:
- 8.75km regional road
- 500m adjoining road
- 50m bicycle lane
- 251m interchange
- 500m bridge

The government of Lagos state has said in a recent statement that the Lekki regional road will greatly decongest traffic when completed. The statement also revealed that the Lekki Sub-region is expected to become a new “economic centre” of Lagos state. The government is confident about its expectations because of other developments in the area. Some of these include the Dangote Petrochemical Plant, Lekki ports, Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lekki Airport and many others.
