Just recently, High Court judges received fifty-one Sport Utility Vehicles and eight houses, courtesy of Lagos State government. The car and house incentives were handed to over to them by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu this Wednesday 23rd September 2020.
Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, recently gave out SUVs to members of the judiciary
From what we learnt, the latest car incentive would be the second time members of the state’s judiciary will be getting such from the Lagos government this year. Not too long ago, the magistrates were given fifty cars to help in carrying out their duties effectively.
According to the governor, a strong judicial institution is pivotal to good governance and development. He, however, re-assured the judiciary arm that the executive arm will be a reliable and dependable body in moving the state forward.
The new cars were given out to these judges to aid in performing their duties to the state
It appears these new official cars were well received by the Magistrates unlike the recent occurrence in Rivers State, where the lawmakers in the state rejected the 15 brand-new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado given to them by Governor Wike. The lawmakers reportedly preferred the government to use the money for something more important like dilapidated road repair.
Governor Sanwo-Olu further said his office expects the return of such support from the judicial body through accelerated justice administration and deepened rule of law without compromising separation of powers.

According to Justice Kazeem Alogba, who happens to be the state’s Chief Judge, stated that the successful running of government of the current dispensation in Lagos State is dependent on the state of the judicial system in place.
