From a new traffic report getting to us, a certain Lagos court recently remanded a man for snatching a Toyota car at gunpoint. The suspected car thief was identified as 21-year-old Raphael Johnson. Reports claim that he was remanded by the High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos for snatching a car at gunpoint. The young man was also charged with other armed robbery-related offences in 2021. The suspect who is presently facing two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy was arraigned on Thursday 6th of October 2022 before Justice Yetunde Adesanya.

Olayemi Shofolu, who was the prosecuting counsel for the state, revealed in court that the defendant and other members of his gang conspired among themselves to carry out the robbery. He alleged that the attack happened at about 9 pm on the 2nd of August 2021 at Freedom Way, Lekki in Lagos State. The prosecutor explained that Johnson was armed with a gun at the time he snatched a white Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 242 FW. During that same period, the suspect also stole other valuable items like iPod, iPhone and ATM card from the Toyota car owner. The defendant and other fleeing members of his gang allegedly robbed their victim of a sum of ₦20,000.

The 21yrs-old man recently remanded in Lagos for car snatching at gunpoint has actually pleaded "not guilty" to the charges. However, the case was adjourned by the Judge till the 16th of January 2023 for further hearing. This was the reason why the judge ordered him to be remanded at a correctional facility within the state for the commencement of trial. This case involving Raphael Johnson is one of many car-snatching and robbery-related cases across courtrooms in the country today.
