The famous Nollywood actor and comedian, John Okafor, was born on 17th October 1961. Also called Mr. Ibu, he was born and raised in Enugu State. Although he started featuring in movies earlier, not until the film “MR Ibu” turned heads did he become famous and the nickname followed him ever since. Apart from being a hilarious actor, what else do you know about him? While we tell you about his personal life in a bit later on, take a look at John Okafor car collection:

Luxury rides in John Okafor car collection

1. BMW X6 - ₦23 million

Getting behind the wheel, you can enjoy a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and another 12.3-inch display sitting in the center of the dashboard. However, compared to bigger SUVs in the same class, the BMW X6 doesn't look so big for an "SUV" size, the cargo space and seating size is minimal, plus the rear-view visibility is a little too low. On the other hand, it's still a nice two-row SUV and comes with several standard features. Take a quick look at its specifications:

  • 2-row SUV with 5 seats
  • 3 trims are available
  • 300 hp - 445 hp (lowest trim - highest trim)
  • 3.0-liter I-6 cylinder engine  (Higher trim comes with 4.4L, V-8 engine)
  • Features Apply Carplay with a one-year trial
  • Wi-Fi hot spot and wireless charging are available

2. Mercedes-Benz C Class 2015 -  ₦13.9 million

We can really rule it out as old, considering the fact that the C300 and C400 have strong acceleration. The front seats are quite supportive and smooth, but the rear seats are a bit confined in both coupe and sedan models. This also means the head and leg-room are minimal.

  • 2.0-liter I-4 cylinder engine (higher trim - 4.0-liter V-8)
  • 4-door sedan
  • C-Class sedan accommodates 5 passengers while C-Class coupe accommodates 4 passengers
  • 4 trim levels are available (with 13 configurations)
  • 241 hp - 503 hp (lowest trim - highest trim)

Standard features include power-adjustable front seats and synthetic leather upholstery

3. Lexus LX 570 - ₦31.2 million

The Lexus 570 is just as big on the inside as it looks on the outside, allowing the desired room in the interior. However, the design of the third-row reduces the cargo room and makes it a bit difficult to even get in. Here are the specifications:

  • 4-door SUV
  • 383-hp, 5.7-liter V-8
  • 1 trim level is available (with 1 configuration)
  • Accommodates 8 passengers
  • Power-folding third-row seats with high-quality upholstery
  • First and second-row seats are highly comfortable as well

If you want to enjoy family luxury, this is your go-to SUV

4. Mercedes-Benz GLE - ₦18.5 million

Every Mercedes-Benz looks great and the GLE isn't an exception. The safety technology and infotainment features are exquisite, with a deluxe and spacious cabin and to crown it up, the handling is quite balanced.

  • Four-door mid-size SUV.
  • 201-hp, 2.1-liter I-4 diesel (Higher trims feature 302-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 and 329-hp, 3.0-liter V-6).
  • 1 trim level is available (with 6 configurations)
  • Accommodates 5 passengers.
  • Power-adjustable front seats.
  • Second-row seats allow more legroom and are also power-adjustable.
  • First and second-row seats are highly comfortable as well.
  • Infotainment and navigation is pretty impressive.

John Okafor's personal life - A disheartening past

Alongside veteran actors like Chiwetalu Agu, John Okafor is known to take up extremely funny roles in all his movies. He’s usually silly and you can rarely find a movie where he acts “normal”. This exact character is what has fetched him his fame across Nigeria.

However, it wasn’t all rosy from the beginning. At a young age, 1976 precisely, he had to witness the death of 6 members of his family at once. His father was included on the list but the killer only confessed after the tragedy, all six were poisoned. John Okafor has his primary education in Enugu State, secondary education in Delta State, then studied Mass Communication at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu.

Ibu has suffered a great loss since a very tender age

Prior to 2015, John Okafor divorced his first wife, after which he tied the knot with Stella Maris. Media once ran riot with the case his ex-wife kidnapped his current wife and son and only released them after 10 days with a certain ransom fee. Sadly for the veteran actor, the son died after a year.

For the successful actor, all that is in the past now. He has featured in over 300 movies and still counting, he’s also one of the top 10 richest actors in Nigeria. He now has three children with Stella Moris: Emmanuel Mandela Okafor, Chelsea Okafor, Jay Jay Okafor. The family's happiness is even hiked up with the appearance of John Okafor car collection and the family trips will be much fun!
