Nigeria used to have its own national airline called Nigeria Airways. It is established in 1958 but has stopped operating in 2003. This airline is 100% owned by Nigerian government.
However, in the latest announcement of Minister of State for Aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika confirmed that the state authorities will not take more than 5% of the carrier. Meanwhile, the government is still searching for partners to co-operate and raise up to $300 million (around N108 billion) for initial investment.
