There is a popular saying in Nigeria that every day is for the thief but one day is for the owner. Such was the case as the Imo state police recently nabbed two robbers and recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla car from them. The robbers had successfully stolen the car from Cross Rivers state but met their waterloo in the hands of Imo state policemen. These notorious robbers were said to be specialists in stealing people’s vehicles at gunpoint.

Micheal Abattam, the PRO and spokesperson of Imo State police have confirmed the arrest of these two suspects. He also gave more details on their case in a recent press statement. According to the Police PRO, the two suspects were arrested during a stop-and-search operation along the Owerri-Onitsha road.
The Toyota Corolla sedan with plate number JJJ 767 AT was actually flagged down at first. At that point, the policemen were unaware that the vehicle was a stolen one. Upon flagging it down, the driver initially pretended like he was going to stop the car. But suddenly, he swerved into a nearby bush on the roadside and the occupants began to run after coming out of the car. It was then the police began to chase the suspects and were able to arrest two of them. Unfortunately, they were three in number and one of the suspects managed to escape.

The Imo police command has revealed the identity of the suspected robbers recently arrested with a stolen Toyota Corolla car. Below is a list of their names and addresses as published by the press.
- Daniel Bassey Edet (m) – 35yrs old resident of Ididem Ebiono Local Govt, Akwa Ibom state
- Felix Edem Ekanem (m) – 30yrs old resident of No. 67 IBB Way in Calabar, Cross River State
The suspects confessed to stealing the Toyota Corolla sedan from Cross River state and were headed to Anambra State where it will be sold.
