The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has commenced their special festival patrol for the Eid-el-Fitri celebration. This special petrol which has become a traditional task on special occassions is done to help prevent road traffics and any road obstructions for easy movement throughout festive periods in Nigeria. For this, the FRSC has set aside about 36,000 officers.
This information was disclosed in Abuja, on Tuesday in a statement by the FRSC Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem. He remarked that this special patrol performed by the FRSC is essential in order to conduct peaceful celebrations for the travellers making use of the road across the country during the Eid el fitr celebrations.
1. What is the focus of FRSC special patrol?
Bisi Kazeem explained that the special operation, which will commence on the 31st of May, is put together to also provide easy and free flow of traffic in states , provide rescue services for travellers who might be involved in any road incident, and also clear the roads of any obstacles during and after the festival celebrations.

Mr. Kazeem mentioned that the focus of the FRSC will be on traffic violations such as ignoring the traffic lights, driving with no driver's license or with expired or fake documents, overloading violation, and lane indiscipline. It will also focus on the removal of damaged or unsafe cars from the roads, apprehend drivers driving with expired or worn out car tires or driving without a spare tire.

2. Duration of FRSC special patrol
The special patrol commenced on the 31st of May and will last till the 8th of June, 2019. This comes with full active and participation of the regular and special marshals. There will also be monitors from the FRSC National Headquarters, Abuja that has placed Field Commands to see to the execution of the operational order.
While all the FRSC officers have been placed in their duty stations, the FRSC spokesman appealed to all motorists to comply with road rules and orders. Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi who is the Corps Marshal of the FRSC is the overall Commander of this special patrol.
