***Important note: You are not required to pay anyone either in cash or in kind in a bid to secure employment into the Federal Road Safety Commission as the recruitment process is quite transparent and cannot be circumvented. Anyone who asks you to pay such fee is likely a scammer.

FRSC recruitment screening

This is the most important stage in FRSC recruitment process. Given that the job of an FRSC member is hands on and would require them to always be on their feet and on the go, applicants will be screened for drugs and tested for physical fitness.

FRSC-screening-exercise

Shortlisted applicants participate in the FRSC screening and fitness exercise

Notification of the exercise will be sent to the email you used for submission of the application, informing venue, date, time of the exercise.

Applicants will go through a series of rigorous physical screenings and exercises, and paramilitary parades to ascertain their level of fitness for the job. Typically, the screening takes place in 6 days, in 36 states with a total of 57 venues. FCT, Lagos, Kaduna and Edo have two venues each, while the rest states have one venue each.

***Important notes:

1. It is important that you pass this stage as it will determine your advancement into the next stage. Last year, just 15,000 out of 324,000 candidates were selected, so the competition is fierce. You should start physical training today so as to be as fittest as possible on the d-day.

2. The following applicants will be disqualified:

  • Pregnant and married women,
  • Applicants with tattoos,
  • Applicants with bow and K-legs. This is explained as it is difficult for people with such characters to stand and walk for a long time, which is part of FRSC officer daily job.

3. You must appear at the screening location in white shorts, white round neck T shirt, canvass and socks

4. You must come along with the following papers to get admitted to the screening venue:

  • Printout of the summary data page,
  • Email notification slip for the screening stage,
  • Originals of your credentials (for sighting),
  • 2 sets of photocopies of credentials,
  • Medical certificate of fitness,
  • 2 passport sized photographs

Aptitude test (JAMB test)

Following the physical screening exercise, you need to check out FRSC recruitment site for a list of successful applicants together with examination centres. If you are on the list, you will be made to sit for a computer-based aptitude test. If you apply for positions in category A (lowest cadres), you don't have to do the aptitude test and proceed to the interview.

The aptitude test, conducted by Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), includes a series of multiple choice questions on general topics such as quantitative reasoning, communication skills, current affairs and FRSC related questions.

***Tips:

To prepare ahead of time, you should study FRSC recruitment past questions to help you become conversant with the test. Most times, questions are repeated and by studying the past questions, you would have an edge over those that didn't.

Here is a sample test you can check out: https://www.studentshub.com.ng/book/frsc-recruitment-test-past-questions-and-answers

Interview

Following the aptitude test is a national interview take place in Abuja.

If you get to this stage of the recruitment process, you can be hopeful because you might as well be on your way to receiving your appointment letter into the FRSC. You should check the invitation for interview together with interview centers. Here's how it will look like.

Basically, the FRSC interview session is an opportunity for the agency to get to know you better and also for you to ask any questions you might have and get your answers. So, it is important that you present yourself very well and also ask intelligent questions on the day of your interview.

FRSC recruitment training

After the interview, successful candidates will be contacted via email. If you have made it up to this stage, congratulations are in order for you. You have crossed all hurdles and will now undergo training by the FRSC to join the agency as a full ranked staff.

The training will span 6 months and a one-month internship in-between the duration. The training locations will likely be:

  • FRSC Academy, Udi, Enugu: for the Officers
  • Training School, Jos, Plateau: for Inspectorate cadre, and
  • Nigeria Army Training Centre, Kontagora, Niger: for Marshals’ cadre

After the training exercise, appointment letters are sent out with postings to various offices of the agency.
