It's a time for reward and a well earned promotion for the two FRSC officers shot two years ago for standing for law and order on Nigerian roads. Check details of the event here!

Two Federal Road Safety Corps officers, Anya Nnachi and Chukwuemeka Ogbuja, who were shot two years back by security men attached to the Abia state Assembly Speaker's wife along Aba- Port-Harcourt road have been commended and promoted to higher ranks  for their valor and dedication to the Corps’ tenets.

FRSC rewards officers for unusual dedication to duty

The Enugu zonal Commanding officer of the FRSC, Mr. Osadeba Osadebanwen, who pinned the new ranks on the officers, explained the reason for their promotion. He stated the fact that the joint promotion was in respect of their level of doggedness and responsibility in carrying out their duties effectively in spite of the enormous pressure and attack on them. At the same time, the Commander encouraged other personnel of the Federal Road Safety Corps to emulate the officers’ example in carrying out their duties diligently. He also complimented the Corps Marshal, Mr Opeyemi for his kind gesture in taking care of the officers’ medical bills. Recently, there have been an increase in the number of incidents of Corps officers getting hurt in the line of duty.

The FRSC sector commander for Abia state, Mr. Menshak in his speech, appreciated God Almighty for preserving the lives of the officers after the unjustified assault, and also appreciated the Corps Marshall for graciously receiving the apology of the Abia state government concerning the issue.

More so, Mr Kalu Ogbonnaya, the FRSC Sector Commander for Enugu state, also praised the promoted officers for their stellar example, in respective of the incident that happened in July 2017. He noted that while some officers would have been reluctant in performing their duties during the incident, these two officers did the opposite. Thus they deserved the commendations and recognition given them.

The FRSC personnel face dangers daily in the discharge of their duty

One of the affected personnel, Mr Ogbuja, also appreciated the efforts of both the Corps Marshal and the FRSC management for finding them worthy of a promotion and also promised to show more dedication to his duty. He also thanked the Corps marshal, Mr. Opeyemi for his generosity towards them.

Mr Ogbuja who was formerly a Road Marshal Inspector has been promoted  to a Senior Road Marshall Assistant while Anya Nnachi was promoted from Road Marshall Assistant 2 to Road Marshal 1.
