The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) recently impounded 367 tricycles and motorcycles that were being driven without proper licensing and registration in the Northern states of Yobe, Borno and Bauchi.
Information of the clamp-down was revealed by Imoh Etuk, Assistant Corps Marshall, Zone 12 Commanding Officer of the Corps, on Thursday October 24, 2019 at the Zonal Operators Meeting for the fourth quarter of 2019 held In Bauchi.
Hopefully, these bike riders have their license, otherwise, the FRSC will get them!

Speaking at the meeting, Etuk stated that, following the Corps mandate to enforce vehicle licensing and registration for operators of tricycles and motorcycles across the country, officials in the zone apprehended 367 unlicensed and unregistered tricycles and motorcycles. The total number consisted of 187 motorcycles and 180 tricycles.
Breaking down the figures for each state, the zonal commander disclosed that 11 tricycles and 187 motorcycles were seized in Bauchi while 169 were seized in Yobe. According to him, 1,411 tricycle and motorcycle traffic offenders had obtained their number plates and national driver’s license due to the enforcement.
Speaking further, the senior officer announced that a total of 1,105 persons obtained their driver’s license. Out of this number, Bauchi accounted for 952 and Yobe accounted for 153. He pointed out that there were no figures from Borno due to the insurgency in the area.
“Commands within the Zone 12 apprehended 24, 399 offenders from the beginning of the year 2019, week 1 to week 42.”
