The Edo State police command has arrested two Federal Road Safety Corps officers for allegedly murdering a passenger on Agbor road Benin. They are Samson Alolade and Francis Igboh.
Two other officers were also reported to be involved in the murder and efforts are being made by Edo police to apprehend them as well. Their names are Sunday Ogi and Joseph Onolade.
Naijauto gathered that the deceased passenger, Odion Omafo Samuel, aged 36, hired a driver who drives Audi 80 for taxi service, and was being driven in the car with the driver when FRSC officials flagged the car to a stop at Owuahe Hill, Agbor road on the 14th of October.
FRSC officials flagged the car down and made an attempt to extort money from the driver, which he resisted
The incident was confirmed by DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, who stood in as the police spokesman. He said,''It is a case of murder''
An investigation carried out by the police revealed that the FRSC officials had beaten Odion to death because he asked the driver not to give them a bribe. This infuriated the officials as the driver and Odion resisted their attempt to intimidate them. An altercation was said to have ensued between the two parties.
The driver fled the scene, leaving Odion at the mercy of the officials who chased him into a nearby bush and descended on him. He was given the beating of his life. Reports say the FRSC officers quickly rushed him to a hospital and the doctor on shift confirmed he was already dead.

The driver who fled later drove down to Odion's residence and informed his relations of what happened. But they accused him of kidnapping Odion and handed him over to Abudu police. There, he narrated his own side of the story and the police started investigations and arrested the two FRSC officers, with the other two at large.
The two arrested officials led the police to the bush where Odion's dead body was found, already decomposing. The officials said Odion had snatched their booking tickets from them.
The Public Relations Officer of Edo FRSC, Edoma Bajack declined commenting on the incident, saying: "I can't give you any information on that."
However, the FRSC, Abuja Sector Command, through their Twitter handle said,
"The Corps has commenced official investigation into the murder of the victim. We implore all residents of Abudu where the incident occurred to be law abiding as the law will take its full course for justice to take place. We commiserate with the bereaved family."
