Believe it or not, new press reports claim that the FRSC recently advised the Federal Government of Nigeria to add special bicycle lanes to all of its future road construction projects. The FRSC reportedly explained that having bicycle lanes would encourage Nigerians to adopt the two-wheel transport means. The Corps claimed that the use of bicycles will greatly reduce traffic crashes in Nigeria and also cut the costs of maintaining other transportation media.

This new update is said to have been made known by Jonathan Owoade, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Kwara state, who spoke with newsmen through a phone call on Tuesday, June 8. The press reports have it that Mr Jonathan Owoade said that the adoption of bicycles will greatly impact the lives of Nigerians. He explained that bicycles would save people’s time and also save them the huge cost of using some of the current transport means.
Reports also claim that Mr Jonathan Owoade reminded Nigerians of World Bicycle Day which is celebrated every year to create awareness for people to know the advantages of bicycle riding. As a matter of fact, media sources confirmed that Mr Jonathan Owoade actually led a team of cyclists to ride along a major road in Kwara state during this year’s celebration of World Bicycle Day.
