Tuesday, July 26 was such a sad day for the people that witnessed a recent fatal crash on the Iperu Bridge in Ogere, Ogun state. Press reports claim that four persons died and six were injured in the fatal car accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. According to the media reports, this unfortunate incident involved a collision between a truck and a Mazda bus on the bridge.

Ahmed Umar, the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed this tragic road incident to newsmen on Tuesday 26th of July in Abeokuta, the state capital. From what he said, the accident happened at about 6:25 am and it involved an unregistered truck and a Mazda bus with registration number YYY 412 XB. Umar explained that Overspeeding was responsible for the crash. According to him, the driver of the Mazda bus speedily rammed into the moving truck from behind as a result of a minor defect on the truck. He said the slight defect was the inability of the rear light to signal vehicles from behind.

Among the dead victims of the recent Lagos-Ibadan road accident was a male child. The Ogun FRSC boss added that those with injuries were rushed to the Victory Hospital in Ogere for treatment while the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the FOS Morgue in Ipara, also in Ogun State. While sympathizing with the families of the deceased, Umar urged them to contact the traffic agency for more information about the accident. The sector commander also urged motorists to refrain from speed violations and always check the condition of their vehicles before they embark on any road trip.
