As a part of the event to celebrate his 85th birthday, Obasanjo distributed 85 tricycles to 85 beneficiaries. Part of the reason why he rode the Keke was to show people how to safely use it without causing harm to other road users. It was also an attempt to teach people to use it to sustain their livelihood and grow their businesses. In an interview conducted after he returned to the OOPL premises, he urged youths to embrace every good opportunity with dedication and hard work. He added that his action was fuelled by the wrong classification of all tricyclists as a nuisance and the possibility of youths running away from starting small. Obasanjo revealed that his initiative would provide jobs for people.
