A Lagos State court has given the Lagos State Government, through the State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences an injunction to auction 108 abandoned/forfeited vehicles seized from traffic offenders to members of the public who might be interested in acquiring them.
The public auction sales will be held on 3rd and 4th December, this month
The agency’s chairman, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi stated that the vehicles include 86 forfeited cars whose owners were charged to court and 22 others abandoned by their owners, which were all seized by the agency for disobedience to traffic rules and one-way driving in various streets of Lagos.
Information gathered by Naijauto says the public auction sales will be held on 3rd and 4th December, this month. The venue is Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit car park located at Ikorodu, Lagos.
Mr. Egbeyemi said,
"It was after the expiration of the 30 days public notice issued by the agency in line with the dictates of the law to all owners of the 22 abandoned vehicles to claim them that the government obtained the court order to auctioned them to interested members of the public
Let me commend the present administration for the on-going massive roads rehabilitation going on simultaneously across the State and to state clearly that motorists both private and commercial bus drivers should desist from driving against traffic (one-way) or causing traffic obstructions to other roads users with."
