Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President in office, was the one who gave Jay-Z that honour in his stint as the Governor of Kwara. The rapper’s name, Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter, was given for a road in Illorin which is in Kawara State.

This happened after the famous hip-hop star paid a visit to Illorin in 2006. During his visit, he was turbaned by Alhaji IbrahiSulu Gambari, the Emir of Illorin, an action which was to declare Jay-Z was a titled Chief in the country.
