Tragedy struck recently when a father of thirty children was crushed to death by a tipper truck in Lokoja, the capital city of Kogi State. From the report given by the Federal Road Safety Corps, the man was on a bike when the truck rammed into it. Stephen Dawulung, who is the Sector Commander of the traffic agency in the state, confirmed this unfortunate incident to newsmen on Monday 1st of August, 2022.

The deceased identified as 60-year-old Abdulsalam Ibrahim was crushed to death alongside his passenger at Ganaja Junction in Lokoja. The Kogi FRSC boss, Dawulung described this incident as tragic and unfortunate. He stated that the road crash took the life of a man that was catering for 30 children. He explained that the man was killed by a hit-and-run driver, who fled the scene with the truck when the operative responded to the distress call. An eyewitness corroborated the story by stating that the driver abandoned the mangled bodies and ran off with his tipper. The Sector Commander said the corpse of the man had been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja while the corpse of the passenger was sent to the morgue of Ankuri hospital, also in Lokoja.

Kogi state FRSC boss has once again urged motorists to always refrain from speed violations and adhere to other traffic rules. Musa Baba-Aliyu, who is the chairman of Kogi Motorcycle Riders’ Association, also spoke on the tragic incident. According to him, the deceased father of 30 children was a native of Katsina and was also a member of the riders’ union. He said the deceased rider was trying to avoid hitting a commercial tricycle heading towards him from the opposite direction when the incident took place.
