Criminals should have a rethink if they believe they can engage some police cars in a hot chase. Check out the fastest police cars till date!

For those who are movie enthusiasts, you might have come across a lot of movies featuring hot chase between police and criminals, both made internationally and locally. You always end up asking yourself this question; when will Nigerian police start driving these insanely fast cars that would scare the hell out of any criminal?

The world is changing and a lot of things are changing with it. Part of those things is the evolution of the police with the kind of cars they use in chasing down criminals. It is now hard in many parts of the world to see criminals outwitting police on the road. Cops' vehicles are now fast and equipped for any kind of terrain. Here on Naijauto are the fastest police cars of all time.

1. The Steeda Ford Mustang GT - USA

Who doesn’t fear Mustang in the street? This car is used in United States by its law enforcement agents and is reported to be faster than the versions produced for civilian use. The Steeda Ford Mustang GT Police Interceptor comes equipped with a V8 5.0-liter engine with a stunning 777 horsepower and 655 pound feet of torque. This is not the kind of Mustang any criminal wants to run against. It has a peak speed of more than 200 mph. this is unarguably the fastest American pursuit car till date.

The Mustang GT used by US agents is not the kind of police car you would want to race against

2. Brabus Mercedes CLS Rocket - USA

When you sight a police car with a massive V12 engine producing an output of 800 horsepower and 1024 pound feet of torque, it is absolutely normal to fidget. This largish car is insanely fast and can run down any criminal on the road. This Mercedes can accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in just 3.5 secs.

The V12 Brabus police car is spacious enough to take in any law offender, regardless of body size

3. Bentley Continental GT - UK

This UK police pursuit Bentley is not only beautiful but incredibly quick as well. Mind you, this is the not the only version of Bentley they have in their fleet as they proudly boast of Bentley Bentayga. Since the GT is a 2-door coupe version, once you are caught, you may end up in the boot. For the regular GT version, it comes equipped with turbocharged V8 6.0-liter engine with an output of 582 horsepower.

The Continental GT can accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in just 4.3 secs. We expect this police version to be higher and more powerful since it can accelerate from standstill of zero to 60 mph in 3.4 secs.

4. Audi R8 - Dubai

Almost three years ago, two Audi R8s were added by the Dubai Police to their expensive fleet. Aside the usual high speed pursuit, these super luxury police cars are purchased for the purpose of connect program and promoting community bonding. With a top speed of 196 mph, its V10 engine produces an output of 540 horsepower. It accelerates from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in a remarkable 3.5 secs. The police must really love cruising in this speed monster.

5. Dodge Challenger - USA

As its name implies, you must think twice before challenging this police Dodge Challenger. As earlier iterated, most of these police pursuit cars are usually fine-tuned, which makes them more powerful than regular versions. The regular dodge Challenger boasts of 485 horsepower from its Hemi V8 6.4-liter engine and a TREMEC 6-speed manual transmission. It accelerates from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in 5.1 secs. We guess the police version will be a bit upgraded.

Nobody challenges the Challenger on the road. It is fast, scary and powerful!

6. Spyker C8 - Netherlands & UK

We admit that other super expensive models earlier mentioned are quite commonly used and popular among the super-rich, but this Spyker C8 is quite rare. It comes equipped with a V8 4.2-liter engine with an output of 320 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque. It can accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in a remarkable 3.5 seconds. This model is used in the UK and Netherlands, and promises a top speed of 187 mph. This $425,000 (~N153.8 million) police powerhouse is manufactured in Netherlands.

The Spyker C8 is rare, expensive and insanely fast for any criminal to take on road test

7. Lamborghini Gallardo - Italy

This elegant speedster is used by the police in Rome, Italy. It is used as pursuit car for those who find joy in breaking the Italian laws. It promises a peak speed of 200 mph and 542 horsepower from its V10 5.2-liter engine. It can easily hit zero to 60 mph in 3.8-liter. Like others, the Italian police must have done a lot of custom changes to make this machine dreadful for any road chase.

Lamborghinis are normally elegant and fast. To attempt to outrun an upgraded police version is suicidal

8. Chevrolet Corvette - USA

Used in Texas, US, the Chevrolet Corvette ‘Z06 Vette’ was confiscated during a raid on meth dealer by the police department in Texas. It would have been a different story for the police if the owner of this car was able to race this car, which had been upgraded to 1,005hp. Because of its extreme speed, the Texas Police Department only use it for PR events.

Dubbed as 'Zoe Vette, this ride was seized from a meth dealer, who already upgraded its output to 1,005 hp

9. Chevrolet Camaro SS - Dubai & USA

This speed demon is used both in Dubai and the United States police departments. The 4-seat ride comes equipped with V8 6.3-liter engine with an output of 455 horsepower and ability to accelerate from a standstill of zero to 60 mph in four seconds. We are not sure if the police are living up to its full potential since this Camaro SS can do a lot on the road.

10. Ferrari 458 Italia - Italy

Believed to be one of the fastest police cars on the planet, the Ferrari 458 Italia is used by Milan police and we seriously doubt if anyone in that city is ready to go head on head with the police on the roads in Milan. This delightful model comes fitted with V8 4.5-liter engine with an output of 570 hp and 398 pound feet of torque. In a stunning 3 seconds, this car will hit zero to 60 mph.
