We bring you the fastest accelerating cars. The accelerations is calculated from when it is not in motion (0 mph) and how much time it would take to get to a velocity of 60mph. This is what makes for the speed of a sports car as most of them are designed with amazing accelerations. Of course here we will be seeing some of the world’s premium and most expensive cars as their designers take great delight in equipping them with turbo engines which guarantee fast take off time. There are also a few more common models found amongst these high end super sports cars that make up this universe of speed, which shows how much this level of technology that has trickled down into the hands of not super rich folks, but far from luxury car buyers over the past years.

In no particular order and doesn’t cover all the cars there is, we have put together a list of 10 world's fastest accelerating cars from 0-60mph. If you have a thing for speed you definitely want to see this list.

1. Rimac C TWO – 1.85 secs.

The Croatian automobile manufacturers have been in the business of producing exotic all-electric vehicles for years now and have managed to be on the forefront of high pricing and speed for their sport cars. The newest from the Croatian luxury giants is the Rimac C TWO.

It has a 4 electric motor system with 1914 horsepower to produce 1696lb-ft of torque. The automobile is a middle engine all-wheel drive combined with a single-speed gearbox and two twin speed gearboxes which allow the car to blaze to 60-mph from a standing start in just 1.85 seconds. This is simply amazing!

2. Porsche 919 Hybrid - 1.9 secs

With the Porsche automakers there is quite a lot to be said but now there is a lot more to be driven with the new 919 Hybrid (Mk II). I guess we can just “shut up and drive” as one will be needing al concentration to move this beast with 888 bhp, V4 turbo hybrid engine. With a terminal velocity of almost 300mph and all-wheel drive system, the super speed car can get from 0-60mph in just 1.9secs. These features make the Porsche 919 faster than most of its exotic counterparts.

3. SSC Ultimate Aero TT – 2.8 secs

The SSC Aero TT isn’t a very common car and held the position for “the fastest production car in the world” before the inception of the Bugatti Veyron. The North American automakers SSC have been in the business of making high end automobiles for over a decade with the Ultimate SSC Aero TT being its newest inclusion into the high-end market. The Ultimate Aero TT is fitted with a 6.3-liter V-8 engine and uses a twin turbochargers to churn out 1,28 horsepower and 1,112 lb-ft of torque and achieves a quick acceleration of 0-60mph is just 2.8secs. It may have lost its claim of fastest production to the Veyron but still got an exceptional of the line speed.

4. Nissan GT-R – 2.9 secs

This Nissan GT-R though a well-known name is a far cry from the regular budget friendly models made by the Nissan automakers. Needless to say, the GT-R comes with its price worth with super performance 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V-6 engine, 545 horsepower and 463 lb-ft of torque.

It features a launch control system that can make maximum use of all available grip, which means you don't have to be a super race car driver to shift the GT-R through its six dual-clutch automated manual gears. The all-wheel drive design gives the balance needed to get through 0-60mpn in just 2.9 seconds. One could circle 2 streets and back in a minute with such take off speed.

5. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport Vitesse – 2.4 secs

Just when we thought the wonder makers had done it all with the regular Bugatti Veyron, they go ahead and make an upgrade in the Veyron Super Sports Vitesse edition.

The Super Sport Vitesse generates 1,200 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque from its eccentric 16-cylinder engine (with a whooping - four turbochargers), and its all-wheel drive system gives the car enough advantage to reach 0-60mph in only 2.4 seconds – yes, just 2.4 seconds!! Combined with the top speed of almost 270mph I wonder what driving height won’t be attained with this subtle beast.

6. Ariel Atom 500 V8 – 2.3 secs

This is definitely not your everyday road car and you don’t get to see them so often but this wonder right here beats most high performance cars in all its specs. The Ariel Atom 500 V8 which is mostly found on race tracks has an advantage in its lightweight design considering it only has a 3.3-liter, 8-cylinder engine, 475 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. But considering that the power to weight ratio which is 748 horsepower per ton, it is no surprise that the Atom V8 has an acceleration speed 0-60mph of 2.3 seconds! For a super cool car, this is what we call take off speed.

7. Porsche 911 Turbo S – 2.9 secs

Considering the fact that the Turbo S was built as an everyday vehicle, it is among the cars listed here most notable and probably unbeatable in the 0-60 off the line race.

The turbo S is an all-wheel drive and features a 3.8-liter, 560 horsepower twin-turbo six-cylinder engine with 516 lb-ft of torque and a seven-speed automated manual transmission with launch control. Combined with a top speed of 197mph, its reaches acceleration speed of 60mph in 2.9 seconds. Now that’s a lot of car power for a car with a usable backseat.

The Italian giants are known to have a knack for speed so it’s not surprising they have two of their models featured in this category. Their cars are built with balance and a beastly road presence.

8. McLaren MP4-12C – 3.1 secs

The McLaren MP4-12C is a remarkable achievement in the world of automobile. It combines a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo eight-cylinder engine, reaching 616 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission all seamlessly connected to its rear wheels. The MP4-12C reaches an acceleration speed 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds.

9. Ferrari F12 Berlinetta – 3.1 secs

The Ferrari F12berlinetta is a V12 power coupe which produces 730 horses and 509 lb-ft of torque from its 6.3-liters 12 cylinder engine combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission responsible for steering the engine output to the rear wheels. This results in acceleration speed time 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds.

10. Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 coupe – 2.9secs

The Aventador is a new inclusion in the luxuriant sports car editions of the Italian automakers.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 all-wheel drive features 691 horsepower and 509 lb-ft of torque thanks to a 6.5-liter, twelve-cylinder (V12) engine. It reaches acceleration speed 60mph is just 2.9 seconds.
