Naijauto gathered that the minor boarded a motorcycle to take her to her mother’s family house in Odoba when the bike man identified as Ameh changed direction suddenly. We learnt the girl questioned the sudden change of direction but the motorcyclist said that he wanted to get something from a friend. Onoja Dickson, who is an uncle to the victim, confirmed this incident. He said the suspected motorcyclist took the girl to a friend’s place where he raped her. Dickson revealed that his niece is one of the two children her parents were blessed with before their separation. Dickson added that the motorcyclist took the minor to a hotel in an attempt to lure her into having sex with him. When this failed, he decided to lure her in with a drink, which she refused to take as well. Dickson revealed that the girl insisted he should take her home which the suspect took advantage of by taking her into a friend’s room where forced his way into her.

It was also stated that people living in the compound couldn’t render any help to the minor when she was being dragged into a room there. Dickson said her screams were heard by a relative, who rushed in, thinking someone was beating a baby in the room. She called for help when she found the suspect having his way with her. He said the girl was rescued but the community has remained quiet considering the high level of cultism and violence in the area. Dickson disclosed that she told her father about the incident, who swiftly asked the vigilante to arrest the motorcyclist. While seeking justice, Dickson said they had invited policemen from Otukpa divisional headquarters to take custody of the boy from the local vigilante group. He said the boy was released on bail on the 7th of January and has refused to show up at the station as part of the bail conditions.
