What’s the story behind the Faberge Egg?
According to historical records, Alexander III was the emperor of Russia in 1885 who needed a special Easter gift for his wife as he wasn’t satisfied with the regular Easter Eggs usually made of Chocolate and sold in the United Kingdom. It was popularly recorded that the Emperor’s unique desire made him consult the renowned Russian jeweler “House of Faberge” to make a jeweled Easter egg gift for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna. This according to history, led to the birth of the one-of-a-kind Faberge Egg.
This special golden egg has an enameled shell that is opaque and painted white while the inner yolk is of yellow-gold color. A golden hen is also known to be inside this Faberge Egg and a small size imperial crown (diamond replica) with a suspended ruby pendant.
