Going by new press reports, the government of Enugu state has begun reconstructing more than 241 bus shelters that were allegedly destroyed by hoodlums in the capital city. These bus shelters were the ones reported to have been destroyed by some miscreants who hijacked the initially peaceful #EndSARS protests and turned it into a riot. Press reports claim that the reconstruction of these bus shelters is currently being handled by the ECTDA (Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority).

According to press reports, Josef Onoh, the chairman of ECTDA, recently took pressmen around the New Haven Junction in Enugu to see the set of bus shelters that have now been completed. He reportedly explained that the state government is being forced to execute the project at this time by using the funds meant for other projects.
Reports also have it that Mr Josef Onoh said the new bus shelters are being constructed with bricks which will make them even more durable than before. Mr Josef Onoh in his press statement appreciated the governor of Enugu State for giving priority to the rebuilding of these bus shelters and Enugu State capital as a whole after the recent unfortunate riots. Mr Onoh says that the governor’s actions match his widely campaigned 4-point agenda which included “Urban renewal”.
