Officials of the SARS or FSARS which is the Special Anti-Robbery Squad division of the Nigerian police force are currently being accused of being responsible for several extra-judicial killings and brutality cases. These past incidents and accusations have allegedly sparked the current outrage and ongoing protests by Nigeria youths calling for a complete end of the division.
Despite Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s appeal to the Nigerian youths for a peaceful protest, the recent alleged harsh response of the police force to the protesters have escalated the outrage in them. As of the time of writing this report, some of the top 10 richest Nigerian musicians in Nigeria like Wizkid, Davido and Tiwa Savage have also joined the #ENDSARS protest to support a call for an end to that unit of the Nigerian police.
