The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport is located in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, which is the center of power in the country.

An airport of such class is expected to be in top condition, competing favorably with its counterparts in other capital cities of the world. In recognition of this, the federal government of Nigeria had approved the remodeling and renovation of the airport.

A new terminal building was constructed to provide better services in line with international standards. The construction was done by Chinese Civil Engineering and Construction Company (CCECC).

Since the completion of the construction and remodeling, airlines were yet to make use of the new terminal. Operations were limited to the old terminal of the airport. But it changed recently as Emirates Airline became the first airline to operate on it. This “launching” of the new terminal will open way for other airlines to make use of it.
