Latest Eid-el Fitri traffic updates: 2 dead, 8 injured in 2 accidents in Ogun

While others were celebrating Eid-el Fitri, some were losing their lives and getting injured in road crashes! See the road crashes on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway!

Two separate accidents occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway leaving two people dead and eight others injured on Eid-el Fitri, June 4, 2019.

The incident was confirmed by the Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Commander in Ogun State, Mr Clement Oladele, while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).  He revealed that the first accident occurred around 5 o’clock in the morning as an Iveco truck with vehicle number KTU 565 XW lost control from speeding.

Parties involved in the crash were three males. One of them died while the other two sustained injuries. All three of them were rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu.

Oladele further disclosed that another accident occurred on the same day around Ogumankin, involving a Toyota Hiace with vehicle number LND 626 XR, and was due to reckless driving. The driver had lost control in the process of overtaking a vehicle in front. According to the unit commander, occupants of the bus were 17 in number, 8 females. 6 males and 3 children. A female passenger died while 6 passengers suffered injury.

Oladele urged drivers to drive with caution on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway especially as it was in the rehabilitation process.

“Motorists should therefore expect traffic to build up on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway and other corridors following the celebration of the Eid-el-Fitri and with several motorists returning back to resume work,” he added.
