EFCC arrests 27 suspected Yahoo boys in Owerri, recovers 5 Lexus and 1 Toyota

EFCC stormed Owerri and have arrested 27 suspected Yahoo boys, recovering six cars, including 5 luxury Lexus and 1 Toyota. The suspects were caught inside 2 hostels. Read more details below!

The operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Enugu zone stormed Owerri, the capital of Imo, on Thursday, October 24 and arrested 27 suspected internet fraudsters.

Naijauto gathered the suspects were apprehended in two hostels in Owerri. Bloomnesdays Plaza Hostel located at Nekede and Eura Hostel in Naze-Obibiezena Road.

The arrest was based on an intelligent report and careful surveillance hinting at their extravagant lifestyle. The Intel confirmed the Yahoo boys were using their loot to live above their means which prompted the raid in their place of residence.

After the raid, EFCC recovered the following items:

  • 3 Lexus E350 cars whose registration numbers are WER 468 PP, LAG 615 FE, AFM 206 MK
  • 2 Lexus R300 SUV, registration numbers-NGN 153 NX, MUS 276 FB
  • 1 Toyota Avalon, registration number-AAA 124 EP
  • Laptops and mobile phones

The suspected Yahoo boys have provided useful information to the commission to aid their investigation. And according to EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, they will be taken to the court on completion of the investigation.
